But, please, don’t get carried away with ideas that eat in to your precious savings or credit card use. The various authors of PTO have actually done the stuff you read about and actually, they say, made money from their ideas. Whether the specific ideas are great for you, I can’t say. But you can. Do NOT get sucked into someone else’s dream. Take some long walks, talk to your spouse, talk about dreams and what you’re willing to do to get them. What you are looking for is “passion” – a driving force that will carry you forward long after the initial “high” of a new venture has vanished.
“And choose carefully. Before you commit to anything lean the realities. Lots of people “dream” of owning a “bed and breakfast”. If that sounds like you, have 10 people over to your house for a couple weeks and wait on them. If you are filled with joy everyday, then you have found your calling. If, on the other hand, you’re going through trunks looking for your old handgun, then that’s your answer. No matter what you think your passion is, if you don’t know for sure, then try it out. Volunteer. Sweep the floors. It doesn’t matter. Do it for a month. Watch the owner pull his hair out after the workers have left. Help him do his books way into the night. Watch who he has to “pay off” to stay in the bar business, for a fictional example. Keep asking yourself if this is “you”.
PTO is more than a book about making money. It is going to teach you how to make money ANYWHERE you happen to land. That is an immense blessing if that is what you want. It is written for folks who want to make money WITHOUT A JOB!
